How many porta potties does OSHA require on a job site?

OSHA 29 CFR 1926.51(c) requires 1 toilet for 20 or fewer workers on a construction site. From 20 to 199 workers, the rule is 1 toilet seat and 1 urinal per 40 workers. From 200 workers up, it is 1 seat and 1 urinal per 50. Confirm your site's needs with your safety officer.

OSHA 29 CFR 1926.51(c) Table D-1 sets the legal minimum. The right column is our recommendation for Longmont crews working 8–10 hour days.

Does a construction site need a hand-washing station?

OSHA 1926.51(f) requires washing facilities where workers handle paints, coatings or other contaminants, and many general contractors require them on every site. A two-person hand-washing station costs $225 for the first 28 days and $189 after, refilled at each weekly service.

See the hand-washing station page for tank sizes and rated uses.

How does weekly job-site service work?

Weekly job-site service happens on the same weekday every week. The driver pumps the tank, scrubs the seat, urinal and walls, recharges the deodorizer and restocks two rolls of tissue and hand sanitizer. Crews of 15 or more often add a second weekly visit for $65 so the unit never overflows.

Units on locked sites need a gate code or a lockbox; tell us once and it stays on the route sheet. Read how porta potties are cleaned.

Can you move a porta potty as the job moves?

We move a porta potty to a new lot or phase on the next weekly service at no charge. A same-day move costs $65. Production builders in Firestone, Frederick and Erie often keep one unit per few lots and move units as homes close, which avoids paying for new deliveries.

How do job-site porta potties handle Colorado winter?

Job-site porta potties in Colorado freeze without treatment from November through March. Every winter unit we place gets salt brine antifreeze at delivery and at each weekly service at no extra charge. Place units out of the wind and in sun, ideally on the south or east side of a building.

Construction porta potty questions

Can I get a construction porta potty delivered tomorrow?

Next-business-day delivery is standard for job sites, with no rush fee. Call by noon and delivery can happen the same day for $75. Give us the site address or a map pin, the gate code and the superintendent's phone.

Can you invoice my company instead of charging a card?

Contractors with an approved business account are invoiced every 28 days and can pay by check or ACH. New accounts pay the first cycle by card. Ask for a credit application when you call.

What happens if the porta potty gets tipped or vandalized on my site?

If a unit is tipped, we clean it up and bill the cost of the clean-out, which is quoted with photos before we charge. Graffiti and broken parts are billed at repair cost. Placing the unit against a structure or staking it on windy lots prevents most tip-overs.

Can the porta potty be locked on a job site?

Every unit has an occupancy latch, and we can fit a hasp so you can add your own padlock. Leave the lock open or the key in the lockbox on service day, or the visit is missed and rescheduled.

Do you rent porta potties for a one-week remodel?

A one-week remodel uses the job-site rate: $235 covers the first 28 days with weekly service and free pickup. Short private jobs of up to 5 days can use the $249 event rate instead if you do not need a mid-rental cleaning; we will quote whichever is cheaper.
